New Progress for Two Projects: In-Car Displays and G8.6 Metal Mask Plates

Recently, both the intelligent cockpit production base project by TCL Industries and Brilliance China, and the Quanyang G8.6 metal mask plate project, which are currently under construction, have seen new developments.

TCL Industries and Brilliance China's Intelligent Cockpit Production Base Project is Over Halfway Complete

On July 14, Shenyang Automobile Co., Ltd. announced that the construction of the intelligent cockpit production base project by Brilliance China and TCL Industries is now over halfway complete.

This project, jointly invested by TCL Industries and Brilliance China, marks TCL Group's first industrial venture in Northeast China. With a total investment of 1.4 billion RMB and a construction area of approximately 25,000 square meters, it will feature multiple intelligent production lines. It will primarily manufacture automotive electronic products such as in-car display assemblies, intelligent cockpit systems, and intelligent driving domain controllers. These products are expected to reach major OEMs both domestically and internationally, with a cumulative output value projected to exceed 10 billion RMB over five years.

It's reported that the project partners signed a joint venture agreement on December 31, 2024. Under the agreement, Shenyang Jinbei Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd., an indirectly wholly-owned subsidiary of Brilliance Auto, and TCL Hengshitianrui Investment (Ningbo) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of TCL Industries, will establish a joint venture, with each party holding a 50% stake. The total capital of the joint venture is 1.4 billion RMB, with Jinbei Auto Control contributing 700 million RMB in cash, and TCL Ningbo making an equivalent contribution in both cash and injected assets.

The joint venture will primarily focus on developing AI software, providing cloud computing equipment technical services, information system integration services, technical consulting services, software outsourcing services, and selling smart manufacturing solutions, automotive software and hardware, and electronic components.

As a technology industrial group under TCL Group specializing in smart terminal businesses and ecosystem layout, TCL Industries has accelerated its expansion into the smart automotive sector in recent years. Its incubated smart automotive solutions have already established partnerships with several leading domestic and international car manufacturers.

First Column of Quanyang G8.6 Metal Mask Plate Project's Main Plant Successfully Hoisted

On July 8, the first column for the main plant of the Quanyang G8.6 metal mask plate project was successfully hoisted, marking the official transition of the project from underground foundation work to above-ground main structure construction.

According to available information, the Quanyang Optoelectronics G8.6 metal mask plate project has a total investment of 500 million RMB and covers an area of approximately 40 mu (about 2.67 hectares). The project is planned in two phases, establishing two production lines. Phase one is scheduled for completion by June 2026, with an estimated annual output value of 300 million RMB upon reaching full capacity. The entire project is expected to generate an annual output value of 600 million RMB once fully operational. With the successful completion of this first hoist, Quanyang Optoelectronics will accelerate project construction, planning to enter the production equipment debugging phase in November this year, and striving for production commencement by February next year.

It's reported that Quanyang Optoelectronics, established in 2021, specializes in the manufacturing of evaporated metal mask plates for OLED displays. Its largest shareholder is Huancaixing Technology (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huancaixing"), which is the first enterprise in China to industrialize fine metal masks (FMM) for AMOLED semiconductor display evaporation.

Huancaixing's FMM product Phase I, which established the first-generation roll-to-roll process mass production line, is already in mass production with a capacity of 36,000 units/year. Phase II involves building a second-generation roll-to-roll process mass production line (including a G8.6 line), with a projected capacity of 100,000 units/year after going into operation. In December 2024, Huancaixing achieved trial mass production of FMM products for 8.6th generation OLED lines.
